چکیده

The fast intensification of agriculture affects many systems. In recent decades, traditional vineyards have been rapidly converted to trellis in Spain (the country with the largest vineyard surface worldwide) an attempt reduce harvesting costs and increase vine productivity. implications this modernization on farmland biodiversity are still largely unknown. We studied 52 (26 26 trellis) from June September south-western Spain, aiming describe effect goblet-shape structure their management, as well its species' occurrence plots. applied hierarchical models assess probability 10 bird species two mammal Vineyard involved taller vines (connected by metallic guide wires poles rows), greater distance between rows, bigger plot sizes, systematic implementation irrigation, application fertilizers through watering system (fertirrigation) a third vineyards. Other agrochemical treatments seemed be equally used both types. Due use herbicides frequent tilling, types showed low natural vegetation groundcover. had clear effects fauna plots, higher some (rufous-tailed scrub-robin, European goldfinch, red-legged partridge, house sparrow) other (European rabbit greenfinch) ones. Thus, can drive change community birds mammals that inhabit them. addition, (particularly ground-dwelling ones) was strongly determined presence arable land adjacent vineyard. These may therefore during summer because they provide water and/or better cover than harvested crops. Animals attracted for could exposed toxic doses nitrates routinely these. To maximize benefits biodiversity, it would advisable manage schemes order maintain landscape heterogeneity, combined agricultural systems, proportions cover.

Wireless sensors in the Vineyard

A review of wireless sensor network methods used for environmental monitoring of micro climates in vineyards is presented. The telemetry architecture used consists of a wireless grid of sensor arrays to log data in realtime and transmit it from nine locations in six countries to a database server located in New Zealand. Analysis of the data includes climate plotting against trends and macro env...

Organic vineyard management in California

California grape production is a multi-billion dollar business, but only a small fraction of the productive acreage is farmed organically. One aspect of organic management is the pest control strategies, which rely heavily on biological and cultural controls, as well as approved pesticides. To determine what factors might restrict adoption of organic farming practices, we describe the current s...

Evaluation and Mapping Spatial Distribution of Copper Pollution in Soil and Water of Vineyard Garden

Background and objectives: The use of copper based fungicides is a crucial part of agricultural operations in vineyards, increasing productivity and crops. However, the long term application of fungicide could increase the copper concentration in the vineyard soils. Methods: In this study, soil and water chemical parameters including copper contamination, pH and EC as well as soil organic ...
